COSMO-SkyMed: the new second generation satellite in orbit

SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket has been launched successfully. The COSMO-SkyMed CSG satellite placed into orbit, reached its positioning on the night of February 1st and began operation: it will monitor the environment, security and emergency management.

Another eye open to the needs and dangers facing Earth: the new satellite of the COSMO-SkyMed Second Generation (CSG) constellation departed from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida (USA), atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket at 00.11 (CET) on February 1st and reached its positioning in orbit.

From there, it will begin its Earth observation task by sending essential information for monitoring of both the environment and territory, as well as for security and emergency management.
